A
peanut detector dog is a valuable tool for a person
with an allergy to peanuts. Since a dog’s sense
of smell far surpasses that of humans, our peanut
detector dogs, having undergone extensive training,
are easily able to detect even the most minute quantities
of peanuts in any form; raw, cooked, oil, butter,
dust, etc. The “Peanut Dog” is a pioneer
and already proven to be an incomparable and diligent
assistant devoted to preventing contact with peanut
residue, and, thereby, a severe allergic reaction.
Southern
Star Ranch peanut detector dogs are fully trained
in peanut detection, manners and obedience. Gentle
and loving, the “Peanut Dogs” are excellent
for anyone, and are allowing children a new-found
independence. These confident and disciplined working
dogs, trained to be comfortable in and accustomed
to all environments, will accompany you to restaurants
and other public places, quietly alerting you to possible
danger. Friendly and well socialized, the “Peanut
Dog” will greet guests in your home and discreetly
scan them for peanut residue in order to minimize
the chance of contamination.
In
addition to working for you, the peanut detector dog
will be a loving, trust-worthy and devoted companion
to you and your family. Trainee candidates are carefully
selected, tested and screened for temperament and
characteristics that will allow them to be both a
working dog and a family companion. The breeds of
dogs most commonly used for peanut detection are Poodles,
Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers and German
Shepherds, as well as dogs of mixed breeds. Poodles
can be owned by people whom otherwise cannot have
a dog, as they do not shed and are dander free.
